Design Contest

Members its up to you this year to design our t-shirts, sweaters, pens, keychains, hats, underwear, anything the Purple Door can print we will make. We are challenging all members to come up with a creative new design, slogan or a modification of our current logo to incorporate into a piece of merchandise that will be later sold to all members in a fundraiser. **Bonus** The design that wins the contest gets a free piece of merchandise! So get those creative juices flowing; designs are due in by Monday March 13th @ 6pm.

Voting on designs will be taking place from Wednesday March 15th until Monday March 22th.

for an image of our logo! Also be sure to check out the updates on the events page.

Career and Grad Forum

The Career and Grad Forum had a massive turnout this year, with guest speakers Dr. Olsen, Dr. Vernon, and graduate students Erin Ross and Nick Cothros. A synoposis of this event, as well as pictures from past events, can now be found under the 'events' tab above.

The handouts from Val Van Domelen, the Graduate Program Assistant for Psychology, were gone well before the forum began, and so the information from this excellent booklet of web resources has been posted under 'links' . This information is intended to help you get started with navigating Western's Graduate Programs in Psychology website, as well providing information on the GREs and other graduate programs in Canada.

The Western Psychology Association

Tonight will be the first general meeting of the WPA! We are holding it in room 3026 of the Social Science Centre at 6:30 to 7:30. If you haven't joined yet and would like to, you are welcome to attend! If you can't attend tonight (Sept. 28), please sign up at the Psychology Resource Centre (SSC 3115). Here is a little bit about what we have planned for this year in case you miss tonight's meeting:

October
We will be having at least one social event, in order for you to get to know other members of the WPA. Our social events are a great way to make class aquaintances just in case you need to trade-off going to your least favourite lectures while still getting the notes!
November
On the 15th, we will be holding our Annual Wine & Cheese. Come join us in the Wave at around 6pm and get your drink on with your profs! (Sorry, but it is against the law to serve alcohol to minors...however we will have other refreshments not related to wine or cheese!)
December
The volunteer committee get's into the holiday spirit and sells non-denominational holiday gift cards in the UCC Atrium!
January Worried about your degree? Not sure what to do with it? Join us at the Graduate and general Psych forums to get your questions answered!
March
Sit back and relax while some of your favourite profs talk about current issues in popular psychology at our Speaker Series. Three nights, three (or more) profs, and plenty of entertainment that will get you thinking.

Of course, we will have a lot of other great things to do as well, and those will be posted here as they are planned. If you would like to help with planning more events, please join our social committee!

Welcome to the new WPA Homepage!

The Western Psychology Association is pleased to bring you this new website. We hope that it will assist you in getting involved with the department, and that it will eventually become a good resource for all psychology undergraduate students. Some of the features have not yet been implemented, and suggestions are welcome. The forums have been activated, and will be a great way of getting in touch with other WPA members. As soon as we have the required info, volunteer positions will be posted. All news will be posted to this page, so expect to see updates soon!
