Charity Fundraiser at the Frog!

The WPA's annual Charity Fundraiser is happening Thursday, March 25 from 9:00pm-11:00pm at The Barking Frog! All funds collected from wristband sales will be going to Hope's Garden Foundation for the treatment and awareness of eating disorders.

Informations on tickets:

Price: tickets will be sold for $5 and include line bypass, cover, VIP access to our own fancy little lounge area, and food!
How?: Wristbands will be available through the Psychology Resource Center (3115 SSC).

The PRC hours are:
Monday: 10:30am -12:30pm
Tuesday: 10:00am -1:30pm
Wednesday: 10:00am -12:00pm
Thursday: 10:00am -2:30pm

If those times don't work for you, wristbands are available through:

- At our upcoming events!

Also note that you DO NOT need to be in psychology or be a WPA member to come, so feel free to bring your friends!

General Meeting and Career Info Night

The WPA will be having a general meeting from 5:30 – 6:30pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010 in UCC room 60. This is an opportunity to learn about upcoming events, about the WPA, and how to get involved next year. The end-of-the-year elections are coming up at the end of March so feel free to come by and ask about the various positions’ duties and how to apply! For those thinking of running for a position on next year’s Exec, we recommend coming to events to get an idea of what the various events entail and as a way of introducing yourself to everyone on the club and Exec!

Following the General Meeting, from 6:30- 7:30 pm, Dr.Simner will be giving a talk about careers in psychology. Looking for what to do with a psychology degree or information about various graduate school options? This is an opportunity to learn this and more! Dr.Simner will be taking questions after so feel free to come prepared with your pressing concerns.

Clinical Graduate School Information Night

Dr. Hoaken, a professor and researcher in the clinical area of psychology at Western, will be giving a presentation about applying to clinical graduate school programs and dispelling some common myths about the chances of getting in.

Charity Fundraiser

The WPA will be hosting a charity fundraiser to benefit Hope’s Garden, an Eating Disorders support and resource centre for sufferers along with their friends and family. Located in London, this charity offers drop-in support services, support groups, a library, and referrals to healthcare professionals. For more information visit http://www.hopesgarden.org/home

The fundraiser will be happening in the last week of March and more details will be announced closer to the event!


Second Semester General Meeting and Brownbag

The WPA will be holding a general meeting and Brownbag this Wednesday, January the 27th at 5 pm in UCC 54B.

Livia Veselka, a graduate student in the personality and measurement area of psychology who is being supervised by Dr.Tony Vernon, will be giving an informal talk about her research. Her talk will focus on twin studies she has done on humour, Dark Triad, mental toughness and personality with a focus on the behavioural genetics realm of psychology.

Wine & Cheese

The WPA's annual Wine & Cheese is coming up!
Come out and meet fellow psychology students, professors and graduate students!
The event is free for all members, and is $10 for any non-members (which gets you into the event and membership to the club).

Date:Wednesay, November 18th
Time: 7:00-9:30 pm
Place: The Wave (on-campus)

For students who are 19+ and plan on drinking wine, ID is required.
Any underage students are welcome to come, and pop will also be provided!

The Prof of the Year award will be given at the event as well! We hope to see everyone out!

Come out and meet the WPA exec, other WPA members, find out more about the club and the social & academic events we'll be running this year. Get involved by joining the Volunteer Committee or Social committee; 1st-year rep exec position open; get volunteer hours.
